De fietssnelweg F405 verbindt het centrum van Gent met Lovendegem en vormt zo een vlotte en veilige fietsverbinding richting het Meetjesland.
De route loopt via het jaagpad langs de Brugse Vaart en biedt een comfortabel en autoluw alternatief, grotendeels ingericht als een afgescheiden dubbelrichtingsfietspad of fietszone, voor verplaatsingen tussen Gent en de noordwestelijke randgemeenten.
De F405 sluit aan op de fietssnelwegen F400 Kleine fietsring Gent, F40 Grote fietsring Gent en F422 Deinze – Eeklo.
