Maps: respect directions on location, respect the highway code

Although this website and the map material have been compiled with the greatest possible care, we cannot accept any liability for any errors that may occur.

The route map on the various presentation pages of the cycle highways is not intended for navigation purposes, but only for orientation and illustration. The drawn lines may deviate from the actual location of cycle paths and cycle routes, due to various technical and practical reasons, such as:

  • Cycle paths on both sides of a road are drawn as a single line, often in the middle of the road. You should of course ride on the cycle path.
  • Cycle highway routes that have not yet been constructed, the exact location of which is not yet known, e.g. along railways, rivers or canals, are often drawn in the middle of a railway, river or canal, pending further development and construction of the route. You are therefore not allowed to cycle or walk on railway lines.

The situation on the ground always takes precedence. Always respect the situation on location and the highway code that is clarified via road signs and markings.

The initiators and partners of Fietssnelwegen.be do not accept any liability for any damage whatsoever arising from the use of maps or information on this website.

Route planner: follow directions on location, respect the highway code

The route planner on Fietssnelwegen.be is a practical guide for planning your route and finding your way. However, the calculated route is not adapted to personal or specific circumstances. The route structures on the route planner may differ from the actual situation. Routes may be blocked (due to maintenance or works, for example).

Do not blindly follow the directions of the route planner. Always decide for yourself where you can (safely) cycle:

  • based on the terrain
  • based on the indications (highway code signs, information boards, police, ...) on location
  • based on your common sense

Respect other road users and adapt your route or speed to the situation on the ground.

The initiators and partners of Fietssnelwegen.be do not accept any liability for any damage whatsoever arising from the use of the route planner.
